In 2011 on Market Street in Blackpool, what was once well known in the 90s as Brannigans became a trendy new bar called Revolution de cuba commonly referred to as REVS.
It was a popular venue for many years and was busy all nights of the week especially on Mondays.
Existing night time operators in the resort saw it as massive threat to a fair chunk of the dwindling market share – but people flocked to revs in their droves nevertheless.
Recent years haven’t been so favourable for revs which is technically a seafront venue – it’s enjoyed a few busy weekends and bank holidays – but the midweek trade hasn’t seen it pull enough in to keep it going – in fact an industry insider told us that if it wasn’t for planned farmers events which can be a massive earner in a weekend for these sized venues – Revs wouldn’t have opened up this year at all.
Recently we gleaned some intel from an industry magazine and we broke the news that a coyote ugly themed bar would be set to take over the market street/promenade venue.
It really is a no-brainer – this venue is perfect and blackpool has a heritage of attracting hen parties to celebrate one last time before their big day. This brand “Coyote Ugly saloon” really are set to have a very good opening run at least.
News only broke in the last week or so and workers were already painting the facade of the building – which had been clad in scaffolding for years revealed only recently – in preparation for the new tenants to arrive.
The UK franchise chain “Coyote Ugly Saloon” is a bar and nightclub concept inspired by the original Coyote Ugly Saloon that opened in New York City in 1993. It is known for its lively, high-energy atmosphere, where bartenders—often called “Coyotes”—perform dance routines on the bar, sing, and interact with patrons to create a fun, rowdy, and memorable experience. The venue is characterized by its rustic, Americana-style decor, a mix of rock, country, and pop music, and a culture of casual, unabashed fun. Coyote Ugly Saloons are popular for their themed nights, events, and live entertainment, which often include karaoke, line dancing, and bar games.
The name “Coyote Ugly” comes from a humorous slang term that describes waking up next to someone so unattractive that you would rather chew your own arm off, like a trapped coyote in a snare, than risk waking them up. The original founder, Liliana Lovell, chose this name to reflect the edgy, bold, and unapologetic spirit of the bar. The brand gained widespread recognition following the release of the 2000 film “Coyote Ugly,” which was inspired by the original New York City bar and depicted its unique blend of spirited performances, strong personalities, and a party-centric atmosphere.
